Secrets About Accepting a Job Offer Before Christmas

Posted 07 December 2021

"I am not looking right now, but lets touch base in the New Year"

2021 is coming to a close and this is the time of year that people start thinking about their New Year, their new diet, new gym and new savings plan. It is so easy to have a mindset of "I will start in the new year" but having this mindset when it comes to job hunting it may not benefit you as much as you think.

It could be massively beneficial for you to get your CV/Resume on the market ahead of the New Year - From our recruitment experience, December is actually one of the busiest months for hiring staff and sending out job offers💥

Here are some reasons why you should accept a job offer before Christmas:
1.       You'll potentially get a higher salary 💸

Christmas falls at the end of the year, and most companies know exactly how much of the hiring budget they have left that they need to use up before the end of the year. This increases your chances of being hired and potentially getting a higher salary.

2.       You'll beat the January Rush – less competition🥇

A lot of people put job searching on hold until after Christmas because they don't want the added task of job hunting before Christmas, or because they think companies won't be hiring.

This means that there is less competition when applying for roles as the number of applicants will be less than usual. Beat the January rush!

“Don’t wait until January 1st to start your resolutions… be few days ahead!”

3.      You'll have peace of mind over the holiday period✌🏻

Knowing you have secured a job will give you a peace of mind over the holiday period, allowing you to enjoy time with your friends and family. You won’t have to worry about it nor feel pressured to find a role!

4.       It will give you enough time to settle in 💆🏻‍♂️💆🏻‍♀️

Starting at the end of the year will be useful as it will give you a chance to get used to the basics in the lead up to Christmas - hopefully in a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere. This means in the new year; you will be prepared and ready.

And lastly…

Christmas is a time when most people are in a good mood and feeling generous. So, it will be easier to talk to potential managers or get comfortable with the company.
