BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - SCALA

Updated: Jul 19, 2022

Over the past year we have supported so many of our partners across the globe with their React and Cloud teams. Now, it’s time to expand.

After countless requests, we are incredibly excited to announce that UMATR will now, also, be specializing in recruitment for SCALA programming.

Scala is a strong statically typed general-purpose programming language which supports both object-oriented programming and functional programming. In fact, Scala is one of the most important programming languages in the world right now and is the first serious alternative to Python.

Why?

  • Its concise and friendly syntax reduces errors. In comparison, Haskell goes much further in terms of conciseness of syntax.

  • Operates easily alongside most of other major programming languages

  • There is less technical debt and a shorter development cycle

  • It is a high level language, so it is very similar to other popular programming languages like Java. And so, for Java programmers, Scala is even easier to learn.

For those reasons, Scala programming is becoming ever so popular, and high in demand. The table below shows how many Scala jobs there are available in that country, matched with an average salary for that position.

Country

Open Jobs

Average Scala Engineer Salary (Junior - Senior)

US

18,432

$140,000 - $210,000

UK

1,446

£50,000 - £90,000

Netherlands

1,130

€80,000 - €100,000

Spain

€45,000 - €65,000

Poland

325,500 zł

Likewise, It’s worth-noting that the functionality of Scala long-assured the support form multiple big companies all across the globe. Companies like Twitter, AirBnB, LinkedIn, Netflix, Apple, Klarna, ITV, Sky, and Sony, use this programming for various reasons. Chris Conrad, a Head of Engineering Team for LinkedIn, specifically mentioned that the “killer feature [of Scala] is the seamless integration of Java and Scala, making it low risk to introduce, and reduces the overhead to experiment. It makes software development a lot less frustrating.”

With such successes and advantages, it is with no surprise that we are building a team dedicated to supporting the community of Scala, and the companies within it that share our values.
