Rust Software Engineer – Digital Assets | Amsterdam (Hybrid)
We are seeking an experienced Rust Software Engineer to join a fast-paced Digital Assets Technology team based in Amsterdam. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a highly innovative environment where engineering, trading, and research intersect. You will play a key role in designing and scaling real-time systems that power on-chain trading, working closely with world-class technologists and quantitative experts.
This role is hybrid, with flexibility to work from both the office and remotely in Amsterdam.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and implement low-latency, high-performance systems with Rust at the core.
- Collaborate with trading and research teams to deliver scalable on-chain trading solutions.
- Develop and maintain event-driven architectures and distributed systems handling large volumes of data.
- Enhance and support DEX trading infrastructure, including protocol integrations, smart contracts, and blockchain indexers.
- Optimize back-end systems for security, resiliency, and availability.
- Partner with quants and traders to identify opportunities for automation and performance acceleration.
- Apply best practices in software engineering, supported by modern tooling and collaborative workflows.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (BSc, MSc, or PhD).
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Rust with a track record of building production-grade systems.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with concurrency, performance tuning, and low-latency applications.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Background in blockchain/DeFi development (protocols, smart contracts, liquidity management, MEV) is a big plus.
- Knowledge of Web3 concepts such as consensus mechanisms, nodes, and on-chain data analysis.
- Strong awareness of security best practices in backend and blockchain systems.
- Experience in trading or financial technology environments is highly advantageous.
