Apply
Our client is enhancing the quality and reliability of a complex transactional platform that underpins fast-paced, high-frequency operations. They are hiring an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join a core engineering team focused on delivering a best-in-class real-time backend system.
This is a hybrid position based in Krakow, requiring 1–2 days per week in the office.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as a key quality advocate, driving validation efforts across backend features with a strong focus on automation
- Collaborate closely with engineers and tech leads to align testing approaches with the intricacies of real-time processing features
- Design and maintain reliable automated test suites for backend APIs and web-facing services
- Own your automation pipeline, investigating failures and optimising for test reliability and speed
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, feedback-driven development workflows
- Proactively identify risk areas and close test coverage gaps, particularly for mission-critical and time-sensitive systems
- Raise, prioritise, and triage bugs alongside engineering teams
- Provide visibility into test coverage and execution results through clear reporting
- Help evolve internal test frameworks and tooling to meet system demands
- Participate in architecture and design discussions to ensure testability and long-term maintainability
- While automation is the focus, manual or exploratory testing may occasionally be part of the role to understand new features or detect hard-to-automate issues
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in QA automation or SDET roles, ideally in backend-heavy or high-performance environments
- Strong development background: solid Java or foundational Scala skills preferred
- Hands-on experience with REST API testing and test strategy design
- Proficient with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab pipelines or similar)
- Familiarity with issue-tracking and test management tools such as Jira
- Exposure to non-functional testing (e.g., performance/load testing using Gatling or equivalent)
- Experience working with modern infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
- Comfortable navigating observability and messaging tools like Splunk, Kafka, and New Relic
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience
- Opportunity to shape quality strategy on a real-time, high-availability system
- Join a fast-moving team at the intersection of software engineering and platform reliability
- Work in a flexible hybrid model with a modern Krakow office
- Be part of a collaborative environment that values technical excellence and autonomy
